Events photography

Exhibitions, presentations, awards ceremonies, receptions, visits, launches… there are a myriad of events held by organisations that show what your work is all about. The event may be part of a wider marketing campaign, or you might want to reward and inspire your staff, show your interaction with customers, or demonstrate external accolades for your company.

Whatever your specific aims, in my events photography I will capture context, individuals, groups and moments the way you need them pictured for your communications. And if you need real-time social media coverage of events, I can do that for you or send you images during the event for your immediate usage.

I was delighted to be asked to support the cross-charities 'Big IF' campaign by photographing its rally in Hyde Park on 8 June 2013. I photographed the event through the build-up to presentations, tweeting about it as I went. I ensured I captured a range of charities' brands and shared my images with them afterwards. I also produced a photographic blog to do a bit to help raise awareness of the campaign to a much wider audience than just those who attended.

Conveying atmosphere

During the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) turned the beautiful Lancaster House into the 'British Business Embassy' to showcase British design and invention and create an atmosphere in which British and overseas companies could trade and invest. This photograph captures the juxtaposition between the grandeur of the venue and the modern products on display - here a Formula 1 car, together with the sense of the sedate atmosphere generated by the location.

Capturing the action

The Further Education College, LeSoCo, asked me to photograph the last ever basketball match between Lewisham and Southwark Colleges (as the two colleges merged). The fast action and strongly yellow lighting both created challenges. Furthermore, the commission was to catch their star player in action - here he successfully shoots for goal.

The campaign, supported by Tearfund among dozens of other charities, aimed to mobilise community action to get G8 leaders take action to tackle global hunger - affecting 1 in 8 of the world's population.

Audience engagement

The business training organisation The Skills People partnered with the Digital Youth Academy (DYA) to launch the first Social Digital Apprenticeships in London. With the apprenticeship being all about social media, I both enabled the partners to publicise the event live by taking photographs that could be tweeted, and created this image to reinforce the whole technology and social media message. This is DYA founder, Penny Power, speaking about the 'born digital youth'.

High profile people

Vince Cable
Images of events are frequently for use for PR or social media purposes. As well the straight-forward portrait type image that the press like, your images really stand out if you show high profile people engaging with others at events - here the Secretary of State for Business, Vince Cable, at the Big Bang Fair. Queens Awards
I was privileged to be able to photograph at the Buckingham Palace Reception HM The Queen gives each year for the winners of the Queen's Awards for Enterprise - the highest award UK companies can win in the spheres of innovation, international trade and sustainable development.
